Recruits - Weekly Training

A Canadian Forces recruit
Provide common military knowledge necessary for the profession of arms and produce non-commissioned members that are able to operate in a small team.

Basic Military Qualification (BMQ)

Every week, there will be inspections, drill and physical training, as well as the following:

Preparatory Week – Saint-Jean Garrison:

  • Arrival administrative procedures
  • Physical fitness evaluation
  • General military knowledge

Week 1 – Saint-Jean Garrison:

  • General military knowledge

Week 2 – Saint-Jean Garrison:

  • General military knowledge

Week 3 – Saint-Jean Garrison:

  • General military knowledge
  • Visit to the Canadian War Museum
  • Visit to the Field of Honour in Pointe-Claire

Week 4 – Saint-Jean Garrison:

  • Weapons handling
  • Topography

Week 5 – Saint-Jean Garrison:

  • Weapons handling

Week 6 – Saint-Jean Garrison:

  • First aid

Week 7 – Saint-Jean Garrison:

  • Weapons handling

Week 8 – Saint-Jean Garrison:

  • Survive under Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) conditions
  • Physical fitness evaluation

Week 9 – Farnham Garrison:

  • Firing range
  • Field training
  • 13 km march, casualty drag and trench digging

Week 10 – Saint-Jean Garrison:

  • Review

Week 11 – Farnham Garrison:

  • Field training
  • Topography
  • Rappel tower
  • Maritime crossing

Week 12 – Farnham Garrison:

  • Final exercise

Week 13 – Saint-Jean Garrison:

  • End of course administrative procedures
  • End of course ceremony

05h10 – 05h25 am: Morning Physical Training
05h30 – 06h00 am: Shower
06h10 – 06h50 am: Breakfast
07h00 – 08h35 am: Inspection
08h45 – 12h00 am: Instruction
12h10 – 12h50 am: Lunch
01h00 – 05h05 pm: Instruction
05h15 – 05h55 pm: Dinner
06h05 – 10h55 pm: Maintenance of military kit and quarters
11h00 pm: Lights out
